These are model definitions, not universal definitions.
- Wellbeing
- A composite of health, energy, safety, hope, security, belonging, autonomy, and meaning, reduced slightly by stress.
- Stress
- Accumulated pain, arousal, fear, anger, shame, insecurity, and reduced recovery or regulation.
- Cooperation
- Capacity for regulated, flexible, trusting collective action. It does not mean obedience, agreement, or conformity.
- Legitimacy
- The population's simulated acceptance of institutions as credible or appropriate.
- Polarization
- Dispersion of private beliefs across the population. A high value means beliefs are farther apart.
- Public/private gap
- The average distance between what a person privately believes and publicly expresses.
- Constitution coefficient
- A causal multiplier. 1.00 is baseline; 1.40 makes that pathway 40% stronger; 0.60 makes it 40% weaker.
- Percentile band
- The range containing the middle 80% of simulated trials. It describes this experiment, not certainty about reality.
- Outlier
- A synthetic person or run far from the center. Outliers remain inspectable and are not discarded as errors.
- Intervention
- A temporary change to simulated conditions. Control comparisons isolate its effect inside this engine; they do not establish a real-world treatment effect.
- Collective state
- A weekly, reversible classification derived from individual capacity, pressure, peer exposure, and legitimacy. It is not a permanent identity.
- Holdout observation
- An evidence point reserved from coefficient fitting and used afterward to test whether the fitted model generalizes within the registered case.
- Synthetic region
- One cell in the civilization map with generated cost, infrastructure, employment, population, and movement conditions. It is not a real geographic place.
- Government profile
- Twelve editable assumptions about authority, capacity, participation, legal limits, information, redistribution, coercion, capture, and local autonomy.
- Compliance
- Outward alignment with rules and perceived consensus. It can result from legitimacy, stable norms, social pressure, or coercion and is not treated as cooperation.
- Emergency power
- An evolving model state that expands during crisis when centralization and coercive capacity outweigh accountability and legal constraint.
- Institutional capture
- The share of nominal administrative capacity diverted by corruption, patronage, or unconstrained emergency authority.
- Institutional agent
- A synthetic officeholder whose bounded attributes model incentives inside an office. It is not a psychological profile or a claim about a real official.
- Government decision
- A proposal processed through a 100-seat vote, executive signature or veto, and a ten-judge review before it changes the simulation.
- Electoral system
- The rule translating synthetic votes into offices. Different rules can produce different seat distributions from the same population.
- Funded delivery
- The share of an enacted policy that current fiscal room and administrative capacity can actually implement.
- Influence pressure
- An inspectable change to officials’ incentives produced by an organization’s resources, access, trust, and campaign intensity.
- Federal response
- A regional government’s modeled choice to comply with, adapt, or resist a national directive.
- Constitutional memory
- The accumulated amendments, court precedents, emergency rules, and transfers of power that constrain later decisions.
