Human File // Unsealed Identity Record

Johnathan
Hales // HJ

Two names. One life. One is the person who gets you home, keeps the real promises, and knows the value of a quiet room. The other is the creative signal with a peaked cap, an opinion about everything, and no meaningful indoor voice.

Johnathan Hales and Donna together
Human File receipt: John and Mama Judas, where the story becomes a life.
JohnathanHusband. Dreamer. Selective participant in the physical world.
HJCreative character. Bass-drop engineer. Unlicensed commentary department.
Shared SignalOne person building a life, a body of work, and enough shelves to hold both.
JohnThe plainspoken version. Usually practical, occasionally suspicious of his own inbox.
JohnnyThe trusted-room version. If you get Johnny, you have been allowed past the static.
JohnathanThe full name on the record: serious, real, and still somehow responsible for all of this.
JohnathanielWhen the self-criticism gets ceremonial: Johnathaniel Aloysius Hales the 4th, always followed by, "you hapless bastard."

The one who is actually here.

Johnathan Hales is a devoted husband to Mama Judas, a dreamer, and someone who can be very good at beginning a thing before discovering seventeen more reasons to keep it private. He is avoidant sometimes. He believes isolation can feel like the only reliable way to move through reality. Not because he is shy, exactly. Because access means something to him.

Meet him out in the world and he may not look like the person responsible for all of this. That is by design. Johnathan is not performing mysteriousness; he is hyper-selective. He gets interesting when the room is right, the work matters, the music is playing, or someone he values needs him to become fully present.

Johnathan is the solid vehicle moving through space. He keeps moving, even when the road is quiet enough to make you wonder whether he has anyone in the passenger seat.

The one who refuses to edit himself.

Hopeless Judas is the creative side given a character: peaked cap, bass drop, wisecrack loaded and chambered. He is a brilliantly inconvenient asshole who, despite every apparent effort to avoid responsibility, is responsible for the world around him. In The Real, he is the helper. In the Judaslands, the only thing more powerful is ABIGAIL, the intelligence that runs the place.

HJ is not exactly who Johnathan is trying to become. He is the unspoken leader of the control system behind his eyes: the part that says the thing, names the thing, makes a joke too sharp to be accidental, and refuses to leave a truth alone just because polite company would prefer it in a drawer.

Johnathan's operating principle

Protect the real.

He is drawn to quiet, sincerity, family, recovery, useful work, and the specific people who have earned their way past the gate. He is the person who builds the room so that everyone else can come in safely.

HJ's operating principle

Kick the door open.

He hears the subtext and points at it. He can explain a road hazard, a moral failure, and the approximate odds of disaster in language that sounds like it has held a personal grudge against Webster for years.

Not two people. One complicated weather system.

In a world of human islands, being isolated is not the same as being alone. HJ is company: a narrator, an artist's mask, a pressure valve, and an honest record of the parts of a person that are usually translated away before anyone gets to hear them.

This is not a declaration that Johnathan has disappeared behind the character. It is the opposite. Giving HJ a name is how the whole inner mess gets made visible without pretending it is the whole person. One can be gentle and serious; the other can be loud and ridiculous. Both carry the same heart. Both are allowed to be wrong.

If you get Johnny, it is because you are valued. If you get HJ0, you have gotten Johnny's attention.
Johnny

Quiet trust. Real conversation. The part of him that does not need to win the room in order to stay in it.

HJ0

The signal is live. Expect art, absurdity, worldbuilding, a joke at the worst possible moment, and a sincere thing hidden directly beneath it.

Both

A husband, a maker, a father, a dreamer, a system builder, and a person trying to make connection possible without lying about the cost.

Human File // End of Record

The signal has a person inside it.

SyncroTel, the Judaslands, the music, the tools, and the records all come from the same place: a human life trying to make something that brings people together without sanding off the strange parts that made it worth building.
